DESTIN, FL–Parents John and Susan Mulvaney grounded their teenage son after he behaved suspiciously on their family beach vacation by volunteering to pose for a family photo. The parent became suspicious when he actually smiled too.
On Friday evening, seventeen-year-old high school junior Beckett Mulvaney attempted to round up his family to take sunset photos on the beach. He voluntarily ended his all-day YouTube marathon on his phone to see the light of day and colors on the horizon right outside his family’s Destin, FL vacation rental. This uncharacteristic action immediately set off alarm bells with his parents.
Earlier in the week, the Mulvaneys had to bribe Beckett and his siblings with ice cream in order for them to cut short their indoor “chilling” time to take family sunset photos. Beckett’s change of heart about taking sunset photos just two days later concerned his parents, who assume Beckett is guilty and covering up for another offense.
“We conferred with other parents at the Emerald Bay Golf Club. They all agreed that none of their teens would happily volunteer for sunset beach photos. Beckett is most definitely hiding something,” said John Mulvaney.
The Mulvaneys scoured their son’s phone for evidence of inappropriate web searches and bad test grades, but so far have come up with nothing. “We will uncover the truth eventually,” stated Susan Mulvaney. “But for now, he’s grounded from electronics until further notice.”
Beckett maintains his innocence and swears he is not guilty of anything. “I finally got bored of YouTube for a minute and wanted to get some sick photos for my Insta. I thought my parents would love it, but instead I got grounded. This sucks. Next time, I’ll just keep watching my bottle flip videos. Those never get old.”
