SOMEWHERE OVER NEBRASKA – Shaun Reyes, a 38-year-old business traveler, accidentally hit the flight attendant’s call button. The embarrassed traveler quickly recovered, though, and made up a reason: “Uh, yeah, can you bring me a Coke?”
Shaun Reyes has elite status on two airlines and travels at least 3 times a month. The seasoned business traveler was flying back from New York when he casually reached his hand up to flick on the light over his seat. However, instead of the light he bumped on the flight attendant’s call button.
As the ding echoed throughout the cabin, Reyes’ heart skipped a beat. Having internally scoffed at the 4 rookie passengers who made the same mistake immediately after the lights dimmed before takeoff, Reyes realized he’d made the very same mistake.
What made matters worse is he’d leaned over to his seatmate, another seasoned travel pro, and they’d placed bets on how many post-light-dimming dings there’d be. Reyes was right: 4.
Now, in a panic, Reyes flicked the crew summoner off, but the damage was done. “Sir, can I assist you?” asked a non-plussed crew member.
“Yeah, no. Uh, uh…,” Reyes stammered for a bit. “Yeah, can I get another Coke, ma’am?”
“Of course, sir,” replied the flight attendant.
As Reyes sipped his Coke he realized he’d made another crucial mistake. Now he had to go to the bathroom.
I’ve seen a FA scold a passenger for pushing the button saying that it’s only for emergencies. Boeing and Airbus should replace the button with one that says either “tip” (pay the FA a tip for bringing a Coke) or a red cross (for a medical emergency).
ha!!
This shit does not belong on Boarding Area
feel better?
