LOS ANGELES, CA – The County of Los Angeles issued new guidance this week banning all county employees from traveling anywhere outside of the county. The travel ban is in response to local politicians disagreeing with literally every other city outside of their borders’ political views.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Council voted unanimously in favor of a new statute banning all official government travel outside of the County borders for employees. The new rule, which is set to take effect at the end of the month, is intended to send a message to other cities, councils, and states whose politics they may disagree with.
The city had previously issued a travel ban covering the states of Florida and Texas, however many felt it didn’t go far enough.
Reportedly, one of the county supervisors heard that there were several Libertarians living in San Bernadino County as well as a handful of old-school “Blue-Blood” Democrats living in the greater San Diego area. After quickly realizing it was going to be difficult to pinpoint all of the different areas in the state and country that the board disagreed with, they felt it was easier to just ban everything.
Employees are still free to conduct international travel to any country in the world but will be required to stay within county borders when operating in an official capacity in the United States. One exception was noted that provided an exemption for county employees attending the MET Gala in an official capacity. This travel would still be allowed under the new rule.
After receiving several questions from the press, the county clarified that employees are not restricted from traveling outside of Los Angeles County borders on their own personal time but might be monitored when they do so. This accommodation seemed reasonable given that most of the low-paid county employees cannot afford to actually live in Los Angeles County anymore.
For its part, the neighboring county to the south, Orange County, wasn’t surprised at the move, having recently approved a statute of its own authorizing its employees to travel to Los Angeles County under its international travel policy, having long assumed that Los Angeles County wasn’t actually part of America anymore.

I hear you now have to have a COVID test to fly out of California to anywhere in the US. The state is now considered a foreign country.
