LONG BEACH, CA – JetBlue Airways issued its last and final offer in its now hostile effort to take over Spirit Airlines. Under the terms of the revised offer, JetBlue’s CEO will throw in his renowned Garbage Pail Kids collection from the mid-eighties.

JetBlue Airways CEO Robin Hayes was seen this weekend removing the highly collectible Garbage Pail Kids cards from their protective sleeves as he muttered to himself, “I didn’t want to have to do this, but fine. It takes what it takes. These a-holes want to play hardball. Fine. I’ll play hardball.”

The renowned Garbage Pail Kids collection is a complete set of cards from the years 1985 to 1987, each in its own protective sleeve, along with 23 unopened packs of cards and a signed copy of the original VHS movie. The entire collection is said to be worth well over $100,000 and that’s accounting for a $0 value assigned to the movie – largely considered one of the worst movies of all time.

Hayes, well known in the Garbage Pail Kids collectors community, is known for attending comic conventions in elaborate Garbage Pail Kids cosplay. The inclusion of the impressive collection in the offer surprised many and is being viewed as a sign to the market of just how serious Hayes and the JetBlue leadership really are about getting their hands on Spirit.

Outsiders also suggest it’s a sign of just how egregious the legal counsel for JetBlue is in their willingness to quite literally fleece their client JetBlue. Jim Imastehlin, lead attorney for the desperate hostile bid, issued this statement in response to criticism over their firm’s unwillingness to talk JetBlue out of any further bid attempts:

“Listen, we work by the hour. And we work slow. If these goobers want to make outlandish offers, fine. We don’t care. Cha-ching baby,” Imastehlin noted. “Throw in the lightsaber collection too. We’ll do the paperwork”
