LAS VEGAS, NV – In a move to counter Virgin Atlantic’s recent tattoo policy, the ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines unveiled new guidance requiring all flight crew to receive a face or neck tattoo.
On the heels of Virgin Atlantic’s recent policy change regarding the allowance for the display of tattoos by flight crew, the ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines quickly announced its own policy change.
Under the new Spirit guidelines, all flight crew including pilots and flight attendants will be required to obtain at least one face or neck tattoo.
A spokesperson for the airline noted, “We think Virgin Atlantic’s policy was a step in the right direction, but frankly, not progressive enough.”
Flight crew can obtain their tattoos anywhere but are also encouraged to seek out and find passengers on flights they are working to get inspiration from their face or neck tattoos.
Crew will have until the end of the year to obtain their tattoo and can expense up to $400 of tattoo expenses as long as the tattoo is performed at a Las Vegas parlor.
